ABOUT ME I have been designing jewelry since 1995 when I started with a small box of glass beads, some inexpensive tools, and a spot to work in the sewing room that became, you guessed it, the beading room. I was still teaching high school English then, so I worked in my spare time. My first business name was "To Bead or Not to Bead" (clever, huh?) and I began doing small shows around the Portland/Vancouver area where I live. Well, things changed. I retired from teaching, converted the basement rec room into my studio, and chose a new business name ("BeadWares") which stuck till 2005 when my friend Liz Plam and I decided to form "Beads & Threads" and do shows together. We teamed up on several shows through 2013, but since then I've been solo on the show tour under that name. I still work at my home studio and make every single piece myself, design my advertising materials, and manage my websites. Please also see my sister website What Women Buy For themselves for limited collections of metals, clays, and "sister" earrings.
ABOUT THE JEWELRY Each piece is OOAK--one of a kind, handmade by me. I pride myself on choosing only the most interesting materials to work with.
ABOUT PAYMENT & SHIPPING I do payments using PayPal. Contact me. (Customers who return items for exchange pay shipping.) Signature Confirmation, expedited shipping, and insurance can be purchased also.
I ship only to the United States currently. If you need international shipping, contact me first. Washington residents pay 7.8% sales tax. First Class shipping is FREE. Upgrade to Priority for $6 additional.
ABOUT CUSTOM JEWELRY . . . a change I will no longer be making custom designs. Occasionally I may agree to make earrings to coordinate with another piece of my jewelry, but they will be my design and need to be paid for upfront. (Sorry . . . some recent experiences have precipitated this decision.)
I take pride in making every piece carefully, professionally, and with the nicest materials I can find.
Things happen, of course, and if you need to return something, contact me.
I guarantee my work for a year with normal wear (just don't sleep, bathe, do dishes, exercise or swim while wearing it though please). And always use the clasp on your bracelet! Anything that is knotted with waxed linen cord should NEVER get wet. It weakens the cord till it eventually breaks.
